A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of photographing Chefs Duskie Estes and John Steward of Zazu Kitchen of Sonoma. This shoot was for The Clever Root, a Farm to Table Food Magazine. It was such a pleasure working with the Chefs and literally shooting from the farm to the food on the table. I love what Chef Duskie signed on my copy of the magazine below. “Alexander You Rock! Bacon Everyday!” A perfect quote from the Queen of Pork herself.
We had a very busy spring and 3 different eiotirial shoots in the April issue of the SOMM Journal. The first was a shoot of Master Sommeliers Robert Bath and Tim Gaiser at the Culinary Institute of America In St. Helena. They tasted and evaluated 47 different Australian Sharaz’s. Next was a story the amazing food an wine event Flavor Napa Valley that featured among many other Iron Chef Morimoto. The third was a blind tasting event featuring Andrea Robinson one of only 21 female Master Sommeliers in the world.
Below is a great story I photographed for The Tasting Panel Magazine with Master Sommelier’s Fred Dame and William Sherer SOMM at Redd in Yountville and owner of Remix Wines. I am looking forward to seeing Fred in the upcoming documentary Somm: Inside the Bottle, the sequel of the 2012 documentary SOMM.

I had an amazing time shooting the Teavana campaign for Starbucks and Oprah Winfrey in Seattle. At the end of 2013 , Starbucks and Oprah announced a joint venture to co-create Teavana Oprah Chai Tea. I photographed Oprah as she developed the tea with Teavana’s leading teaologist , Naoko Tsunoda. It was inspiring to watch! The images were shot in a very natural and organic style. Oprah was incredibly down to earth. I feel very fortunate to have worked with such an inspiring woman. This shoot was one of the highlight of my career thus far. Moon mountain is one of the most beautiful vineyards I’ve photographed. It is filled with rolling hills, gorgeous views and some incredibly old vines. The below photographs were captured in the middle harvest 2013.
Napa Valley is incredibly beautiful in the spring and I feel lucky to call this region home. Recently I photographed a barrel tasting at the Vincent Arroyo Winery in Calistoga. Take a look at the shoot below!
The island of Maui is one of my favorite places in the world. The diverse landscapes and lush green bamboo forests are breathtaking. During my last trip, I photographed a Lifestyle photo shoot in the jungle off the road to Hana, which is located on the eastern side of the island. The day was filled with sun, beautiful hidden pools and waterfalls, and grand vistas. Take a look at a few select photographs from the shoot below.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing the cover and feature story about Ridge Vineyard for Simple Wine News Russia. I photographed Paul Draper, chief winemaker at the vineyard since 1969. Draper first gained recognition for his 1971 Monte Bello Cabernet Sauvignon, when it placed 5th in the Judgment of Paris wine tasting. If you haven’t tried Ridge wines, they are a must! The winery is composed of two main vineyards in California, one in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Cupertino, and the other in Sonoma. Take a look at the story below!
